Before staining, remove all sanding dust and dirt with a vacuum and grease or glue with a clean rag dampened with mineral spirits.
WARNING! If you scrape, sand or remove old paint, you may release lead dust. LEAD IS TOXIC. EXPOSURE TO LEAD DUST CAN CAUSE SERIOUS ILLNESS SUCH AS BRAIN DAMAGE, ESPECIALLY IN CHILDREN. - Apply a test sample on a small inconspicuous area before proceeding with the entire job. Apply one coat of stain liberally with a good quality brush or clean lint free rag.
