Description

Preen Southern Weed Preventer Plus Fire Ant, Flea and Tick Killer is a one-step solution to two major problems that plague Southern gardeners. This dual Preen product stops tough Southern weeds before they start, while also killing listed insects including foraging fire ants, fleas and the ticks that may carry Rocky Mountain spotted fever and Lyme disease.

  • Coverage: 1,000 Sq. Ft.
  • Stop listed weeds before they start
  • Blocks weeds up to 4 months
  • Do not use on vegetable gardens or lawns

  • 2 in 1 to prevent tough Southern weeds & kill listed insects

  • Great for use in flower gardens or landscape beds - not for use on lawns or vegetable gardens.

Formulated specifically for the long Southern growing season, this product is for use in flower and landscape beds, xeriscapes, rock gardens and around groundcovers, trees and shrubs. It does not kill existing weeds, but prevents new weeds from growing. It kills listed insects on contact. It kills foraging and surface insects and is not for use on insect mounds or tunnels.

You can apply the product any time during the South's long growing season to prevent listed weeds from growing and to kill listed insect pests on contact. One bottle protects 1,000 square feet for up to 4 months when used on top of soil or mulch. Reapply every four months to extend protection all season long.

Weeds that don't grow don't need to be pulled. Dead insects don't sting, bite or do damage. Without weeds, your plants are free to grow big and strong. Without troublesome insects, you are free to enjoy your flower and landscape beds.

Application

When to Apply

  • Apply Preen Southern Weed Preventer Plus Fire Ant, Flea and Tick Killer anytime during the growing season. Apply only around established plants and transplants. It should not be used on flower seeds, but may be used after flowering plants have germinated and are 2-3 inches tall. Since it does not kill existing weeds, you must first remove any that have already begun to grow. Once activated, the product continues to tackle listed weeds and insect pests for up to four months per application.

How to Apply

  • Sprinkle the product granules evenly over soil or mulch in flower and landscape beds. Apply when plants are dry so granules don't stick to foliage. If stray granules land on foliage, brush them off. It's very important to water the product in, or apply just prior to rain. This activates both the weed preventer and the insect killer. Do not water to the point of run-off. Once activated by watering in, this product forms a barrier in the top surface of soil that prevents listed weed seeds from germinating. The product will also kill listed insects on contact that enter the treated bed. This is a surface insect control product - do not apply to insect mounds or tunnels. Disturbance to the soil surface after activation may result in erratic control.

Applying with Mulch

  • For best control of listed weeds and insects, we recommend applying Preen Southern Weed Preventer Plus Fire Ant, Flea and Tick Killer on top of mulch. Spread a layer of mulch on your flower and shrub beds, then sprinkle the product on top. Water the product into the mulch to activate. Always brush off stray granules from plant foliage.

THIS PRODUCT IS NOT FOR USE ON VEGETABLE GARDENS OR LAWNS. IT IS NOT FOR DIRECT APPLICATION TO INSECT MOUNDS OR TUNNELS.
