• No. Since one coat melts into prior coats, there is no need to sand for adhesion. Also, since each coat dries to the touch in 30 minutes or less, there is less time for dust and debris to fall into the wet coating.
• No. Brushing Lacquer is not recommended for use on floors. Instead use Minwax® Fast-Drying Polyurethane or Minwax® Super Fast-Drying Polyurethane For Floors.
• Yes. Minwax® Clear Brushing Lacquer and Minwax® Lacquer Sanding Sealer can be applied over Minwax® Wood Finish™, Minwax® Water Based Wood Stains and Minwax® Gel Stains. If Lacquer Sanding Sealer is applied over stain, it is important not to sand too aggressively. Sanding through the sealer to the stain can damage the color.
• No. Brushing Lacquer is specifically formulated to deliver excellent results when applied with a brush. It is not suitable for use in spray equipment. Minwax® Clear Aerosol Lacquer can be used on furniture, spindles and other projects where the convenience of an aerosol spray is desired.
• Surface must be dry and free of old finished in poor condition, paint, wax, grease, polish, dirt or other foreign matter. Note: Do not apply lacquer over polyurethane finishes
• Sand the wood to obtain a smooth, uniform surface. Remove all dust with cloth dampened with mineral spirits
• Apply Minwax® Wood Finish™ stain or Minwax® Lacquer Sanding Sealer, if desired, following label directions
• Shake the can of Minwax® Clear Brushing Lacquer vigorously for two minutes. Shake for 10 seconds occasionally during use
• Protect adjacent areas from overspray. Wet overspray can be removed with lacquer thinner
• Hold can vertically 12 inches from surface. Depress button fully and spray using an even, sweeping motion with slightly overlapping strokes. Spray several thin coats at the first spraying. On unfinished wood, apply sufficient material to seal open joins, edges and end-grain
• Recoat after 30 minutes
• Apply at least three coats
• After final coat, allow at least 24 hours before normal use.
